Making a basic granny square is very simple. Once you learn to make one, the possibilities seem endless. One simple design can be modified so many ways by simply mixing up the colors, etc.
I always start my basic granny squares with a CH 5 and form a ring. The squares in the picture above have 5 rows. Depending on the size of the blanket I wish to make, I may add 1 or 2 more rows in different colors. Other granny square designs will begin differently.... but this is for the BASIC square.
I find that learning a new stitch or design concept is easier when demonstrated. So, I added this video instruction..... I love watching these videos. I am not the most patient teacher. I can write patterns and explain designs but the basic steps are best taught by others!
