Pixie Hood Hat: Free Crochet Pattern

Here is another free pattern.... I spent hours trying to figure out the correct measurements of this hat! But, I really like the end result. It is perfect for the little ones who don't like to keep hats on. There is a tie at the bottom that keeps it secured. The finished hat is available for sale in my Etsy shop.

The baby in the picture is my granddaughter. She is almost 11 months old and her head circumference is 17.5". This hat will probably fit a toddler up to about 16 months old. It can also be made smaller by using a smaller hook.

Pattern:

I Hook
CH 52

R1 - HDC in the second chain from hook. HDC in each stitch across. CH 2 and turn.

R2 thru R14 - HDC in each stitch across. CH 2 and turn.

R15 - HDC in each stitch across. CH 1 and turn.

R16 (trim) - SC in the first four stitches. Skip a stitch and then 5 DCs in the next stitch (this forms the scalloped edge). Skip a stitch and SC in the next stitch. Skip a stitch and 5 DCs in the next stitch. Continue to skip, SC, skip, 5 DCs until you reach the last four stitches. SC in the last four stitches. Tie off and leave a long strand of yarn.

Finishing:
Fold the hat in half and  sew the back together using the long strand of yarn left when you tied off. Turn the hat right side out and you are finished!

Bottom Tie:
Using double strands of yarn, CH 100. Tie off and secure both ends with an additional knot. Weave the tie into the bottom edge of the hat (about 1/2 inch from the bottom).

That's it!

So simple................ Happy Hooking!
